Pen Copran, Llanrwst
Yn fuan aethom i fyw i Bencopran, rhwng y dref a'r Tloty.
Bryncyn isel yn codi oddi ar lawr lled-wastad y Dyffryn oedd Pencropan, a digon o le arno i godi hanner dwsin o dai gyda'u gerddi.
Dywedai traddodiad mai Pen Bryn y Crocbren oedd yr enw gwrediddiol, am y crogid drwgweithredwyr arno.
Cyfeiriai y rhes tai mawr (Bryn Conway) o'r Gogledd i'r De, a rhoddai hyn iddynt haul y bore ar ffenestri ffrynt , a haul y prynhawn ar ffenestri'r cefn.
Rhedai rhes tai Pen Cropan ardraws pen y rhes arall; debyg i'r llythyren T, ond bod coes y llythyren yn ardderchocach na'i phen. Ar ein ty ym Mhen Cropan nid oess ond ffenestr llawr a ffenestr llofft, a'r ddwy yn wynebu i'r Gogledd, a'r haul bron a'u llwyr anwybyddu.
Atgofion Tri Chwarter Canrif I - J. Lloyd Williams (1941)
Soon we went to live in Pencopran, between the town and the Workhouse. Pencropan was a low hill rising from the semi-flat floor of the Dyffryn, with enough space on it to build half a dozen houses with their gardens. Tradition said that the original name was Pen Bryn y Crocbren, because criminals were hanged on it. The large row of houses (Bryn Conway) faced from North to South, and this gave them the morning sun on the front windows, and the afternoon sun on the back windows. Pen Cropan's row of houses ran across the top of the other row; similar to the letter T, but that the leg of the letter is superior to its head. On our house in Pen Cropan there is only a floor window and a loft window, and both face North, and the sun almost completely ignores them.
